A 2025 survey found that 67% of Malaysian employees felt burnt out by work1. According to the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the key indicators of burnout are (i) feeling mentally or physically exhausted by work; (ii) feeling cynical about one’s work or colleagues; and, (iii) feeling inefficient or inadequate at one's work.

Anxiety has emerged as one of the most common mental health concerns in Malaysia. Recent studies indicate that younger individuals, particularly those aged 15-30, were more likely to report anxiety symptoms2. Out of all the respondents, anxiety was found to be more prevalent in women than men.

Recent findings in 2023 estimate that approximately one million Malaysians aged 16 and above are experiencing depression3. Women were reported to have slightly higher rates of moderate depression compared to men. Factors such as lower income, job insecurity, younger age, limited social support, and existing medical conditions may increase vulnerability to depressive symptoms.

High stress levels continue to affect many Malaysians, particularly in the workplace. Recent findings show that 88% of employees report feeling stressed multiple times a week, underscoring the widespread nature of work-related pressure4. Beyond its impact on mental resilience, chronic stress can also affect physical health, potentially increasing susceptibility to illness or prolonging recovery.

Career counselling is commonly sought by individuals in the early stages of their careers, as well as those who feel “stuck” or uncertain about their next steps. Counsellors provide guidance and structured support to help clients gain clarity, identify strengths, and make more informed career decisions.

Low self-esteem can affect how individuals perceive themselves, relate to others, and cope with everyday challenges. It may contribute to feelings of anxiety, low mood, or ongoing stress, particularly when social support is limited.

ThoughtFull simplifies mental health for employees and employers in a few innovative ways.
As pioneers of text-based coaching in Asia, we've developed a comprehensive, scalable platform that normalises taking care of your mental health. Our personalised approach focuses on prevention, growth, and crisis support, helping to build resilient, thriving workplaces.
Through ThoughtFull's Enterprise Programme, we provide organisations with the ThoughtFull Insights dashboard, offering actionable, measurable insights into employee wellbeing. Our tailored Activation Programmes further boost employee engagement, motivation, and long-term success, driving positive outcomes for both individuals and the organisation.
The onboarding process starts with a HR onboarding session where we work together to co-create your employee wellbeing program launch. ThoughtFull will provide all the necessary launch communications, which your HR team can then share with employees.
The employee launch includes a comprehensive review and a live demo of the ThoughtFull app to ensure a smooth start. After the launch, we'll collaborate with the HR team to plan webinars and other ongoing engagement activities to keep the momentum going.
As part of the Activation Programme, we provide more than just access to therapy from anywhere. We partner with your HR team to actively support employee wellbeing offering onsite or virtual launches, webinars on a wide range of topics, critical incident and stress management, in-office booths or counselling as needed, a 24/7 hotline for employees in crisis, providing immediate assistance when it's needed most.
Our goal is to create a comprehensive support system that promotes mental wellbeing and engagement across your organisation. If you are in need of online therapy services for your company, we offer a suite of solutions which can connect your staff to a licensed therapist near them in minutes.

By understanding the factors driving employee wellbeing, you can create tailored mental health programmes.

In addition to this study, we've partnered with several private organisations to develop whitepapers like Project Cheria to demonstrate benefits to using the ThoughtFull platform. We are continuously trying to expand our research efforts.
While asynchronous text-based coaching has proven to be effective, we note that not all cases may be suitable for online therapy and digital platforms. For these cases, our ThoughtFull Professionals do offer face-to-face therapy at our ThoughtFull center.
