Frequently asked questions

How do I know which type of counselling I need?

You don't need to. Pick whichever description above sounds closest, or take the free check and let it suggest one. Your counsellor will tell you in the first session if something different would serve you better, and moving is straightforward.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies more than anyone selling counselling should pretend otherwise. Some situations shift meaningfully in four to six sessions; others benefit from longer. There's no minimum commitment and no package you have to buy up front.

Can I do this by video, or do I need to come in?

Either. Most people choose video, and the evidence shows it works comparably well for most presentations. In-person sessions are available at Kuala Lumpur and Singapore if you'd prefer to be in a room with someone.

What if I've never done this before and don't know what to say?

That's the standard starting position. You won't be asked to arrive with your thoughts organised or a prepared account of your history — your counsellor will guide the conversation, and there's no pressure to share more than you want to in a first session.

Is what I'm dealing with serious enough?

You don't need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a good reason. Most people who come to us are dealing with something ordinary and persistent. If it's bothering you, that's sufficient — and addressing it earlier is considerably easier than addressing it late.
